New Delhi: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has decided to use the policy commission to review the progress of standardization and indigenization of the metro rail system being set up across the country. According to the ministry, its aim is to promote the government's 'Make in India' campaign to implement metro rail projects in the states. An official said that the standardization of engine coaches, signal systems, and communication system has been done. This means that all the parts connected with the Metro Rail system will be in India only.
The review of the decision will be made by the Justice Commission

The official said that it has been decided that the member of the policy commission (science) will review the progress of the standardization and indigenization of the metro rail system. The Ministry will endeavor that this work will be done in a fixed time. It may be recalled that in June this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved to set up a committee under the chairmanship of Metro Man E-Sridharan to decide the criteria for metro rail system in the country.
More than 22 Metro projects in the country are running

The official said that the Ministry wants to schedule the country's development of the Metro Rail project being implemented across the country. According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, 22 projects are running in Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Lucknow, Chennai, Nagpur, Pune, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Noida-Greater Noida, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata and Gurgaon. The ministry said that the fourth phase of Delhi Metro can be completed by December 2020 and the second phase of the Bangalore Metro will be completed by 2021. On the other hand, the Nagpur Metro project, which got approval in 2018, is expected to be completed in December 2019
